The Georgia Health Care Association has named Lenbrook’s Shondrella Little its 2016 Activity Director of the Year. GHCA is the nonprofit association representing 95 percent of skilled nursing care organizations in Georgia. She was recently recognized at the annual “Stars of Long-Term Care” awards ceremony with 400 GHCA members and healthcare leaders from around the state attending.

Shondrella is responsible for developing and coordinating a full range of activities for the residents of Lenbrook’s Healthcare Center. She and the Lenbrook Enrichment Team have introduced a whole new wave of programming in the past year including weekly cooking and baking events, massage therapy days, aromatherapy days, fresh flower arranging sessions and more.

Beginning her career in health care over 20 years ago, Shondrella became certified by the Georgia Nursing Home Association in 2002 and has served in a variety of board positions with the Georgia Society of Nursing Home Activity Directors, including president.

“Shondrella’s spirit, sense of service to her fellow activity directors, and compassion for the residents in her care truly exemplifies what it means to be Activity Director of the Year,” said Sylvia Barnes, Assisted Living Staff Director for GHCA.

“We are extremely proud of Shondrella and her well-deserved honor and recognition by her peers in GHCA,” said Lisa Kiely, Director of Enrichment for Lenbrook. “She is the embodiment of exceptional caring, compassion and competency, which is why our residents love her so much.”

Shondrella’s surprise and delight when presented with the 2016 Activity Director of the Year award by Rita Hudson, Ga. Society of Nursing Home Activity Directors Board Liaison.
