Movie Theatre Spurs Fun, Fellowship and Family Time
What could be better than enjoying a movie in an air conditioned theatre on a hot summer afternoon? Or watching a private showing of your favorite movie with a half dozen of your closest friends? Or inviting your grandchildren over to watch their favorite Disney film on a theatre-sized screen?
Welcome to just one of the many opportunities for fun and fellowship at Lenbrook. The community’s surround-sound movie theater seats a dozen in comfy recliners, each with foot rests and cup holders. And with the 9-foot-wide screen, the picture couldn’t be any better no matter where you sit on any given Tuesday and Thursday at Lenbrook’s full-house matinee showings.
Marvelous Matinees
“You’ll hear all about the movies in the halls and elevators on matinee day,” says Eryn Bennett, activities coordinator at Lenbrook. “Sometimes our neighborhood Publix manager even brings in popcorn and water for a special – and healthy — treat!” she adds.
Movie Clubs
For dedicated history lovers and movie buffs like Bettijo Trawick, the Lenbrook theatre offers the perfect venue for her close-knit group of friends to gather every Tuesday night and enjoy classics like “War and Peace,” “Tinker Tailor Solider Spy,” “Pride and Prejudice” and others.
“We have lunch together every Sunday and dinner once a month in our Fine Dining restaurant,” Bettijo explains. “That’s usually when we select our next movie or series of movies to watch.”
Friday Night Specials
On weekends, other Lenbrook residents are likely to enjoy something a little lighter, like a good Disney film, with their grand or great grandchildren.
“The theatre is here for our residents, their friends and their families to use,” Eryn says. “I like the challenge of finding the movies people want and keeping the theatre scheduled for groups and show times. It’s fun for everyone.”
