Lenbrook Celebrates 40 Years of Community

Lenbrook, Atlanta’s premier intown community for engaged senior living, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The concept for Lenbrook was birthed by Atlanta businessman Jack Clark, who wanted an upscale community for his parents in the Buckhead neighborhood. Lenbrook opened its doors in 1983 with 200 apartments and a range of amenities, such as healthcare, a fitness center, a library, a salon, and a dining room.  That year, the average price of gas was $1.16 per gallon, the top-grossing movie was “Star Wars – Return of the Jedi” and Andrew Young was the Mayor of Atlanta.

Lenbrook was the first purpose-built community with a focus on offering independent living and health care on one campus. Over the years, it has grown and expanded to meet the needs of residents and the community. Today, more than 500 residents live at Lenbrook and enjoy a vibrant and engaged lifestyle. Lenbrook offers many different independent living options, assisted living and a Medicare-certified Health Care Center focused on rehabilitation services, memory care and long-term care on its 10-acre campus. Designated as a 2023 Great Place to Work, Lenbrook is known for its exceptional associates dedicated to providing a high level of service to every resident and who play a key role in creating the unique Lenbrook community.

“We are very proud of our 40-year mission and legacy at Lenbrook,” said Chris Keysor, President and CEO of Lenbrook. “We are grateful to our founders, board members, residents, associates, and partners who have contributed to our success and growth. We look forward to the next 40 years of enabling our residents to enjoy the gifts of independence, good health and personal fulfillment to the fullest extent possible through our many programs and services.”

Lenbrook will celebrate its 40th anniversary over the next 12 months with residents and associates and share stories with the community highlighting its unique place in Atlanta’s history.
