Atlanta Seniors Reach for the Stars to Express Thanks
Another uplifting story
Some Atlanta residents recently sent an out-of-this world thank-you to the management of their senior living community.
With the help of a NASA scientist, residents of Lenbrook of Buckhead went to great heights — 112,000 feet into the sky, to be exact — to declare: “Lenbrook’s management is highly valued by all residents.”
The residents’ message made it into the stratosphere onboard a research balloon that the scientist, a friend of one Lenbrook resident, uses in teaching students in California about space.
A poster-sized photograph — capturing the community thankyou in space, high above Earth — was given to Lenbrook management during a virtual town hall on July 15. It now hangs in the lobby of Lenbrook, an upscale community of about 480 residents.
“This was just a fun, unique way to show our appreciation,” said Linden Longino, who has lived in Lenbrook for eight years and had the NASA contact. “Management has done an excellent job of keeping the (coronavirus) out of Lenbrook.”
Some Georgia nursing homes have had large outbreaks of COVID-19. Lenbrook has not.
Leaders of Lenbrook’s management team said they were surprised, grateful, and humbled to know their residents would go so far to show their gratitude.
“What our residents can accomplish with their resources, connections, and energy is simply amazing,” said Chris Keysor, president and CEO of Lenbrook.
“This truly makes the Lenbrook team feel on top of the world.”
