Big Brothers Big Sisters Honors John Gillin, Immediate Past Chairman of Lenbrook Board
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Metro Atlanta recently honored John Gillin with its Thomas V. Murray Founder’s Award at the agency’s annual Legacy Awards Gala. Named for the late founder of Atlanta’s BBBS, the award is presented only once every four years to an Atlanta community leader “whose monumental personal and professional contributions to the agency have helped facilitate positive change in the lives of many children throughout our community, and whose efforts in leading by example inspire others to caring acts of positive impact.”
John, immediate past chairman of Lenbrook’s Board of Directors, says he first became involved with BBBS over 25 years ago and has stayed active in one capacity or another ever since — ranging from past chairman to current advisor.
“Before you know it, you’re committed to their mission. The closer up you are, the more you understand and see how they are making a profound difference in the lives of at-risk kids,” John said.
BBBS currently has over 3,000 matches of adults with children in Atlanta, one of the largest number of matches in the country.
Congratulations, John! Lenbrook extends its heartfelt thanks to John for his generous gift of time and talents not only to BBBS, but also to Lenbrook as a guiding board member for 10 years and as immediate past chairman.
