Wanderers

We were wanderers. We have moved over 29 times, leaving old friends, making new friends, learning to laugh again, learning to socialize again, learning to have fun again, and learning to live again.

The years disappeared quickly. Time to retire. Time to live in one place forever.

We chose Lenbrook.

Perfect in many ways, except…

There was no afternoon weekly duplicate bridge session. I organized one…

There was no weekly stitch group. I organized one…

There were no casual photos of residents and staff. I began putting up pictures throughout the building…

Greetings in the hall were rarer than I’d like. I became the “Hi!” sayer and lots of my fellow residents soon came right back with, “Hi yourself”… Etc…

We are no longer wanderers. We are Lenbrookers.

Now we laugh again, socialize again, have fun again, live again. Retirement’s not bad. Not bad at all.

“Bear” Cochrane and her husband Jim have been residents of Lenbrook since 2008. Over the years, Bear has served in multiple capacities on a variety of resident committees. She continues to share her talents in photography with the community by taking and uploading new images weekly to the digital photo display units located throughout Lenbrook.
