Purposeful Living
I’d like for you to meet a few of the people that live at Lenbrook:
- Dorothy is our champion of Bridge at Lenbrook. As Chair of the Bridge Committee, she recruits Committee volunteers and oversees the scheduling, necessary supplies, and set-up for the 120-plus residents who play Duplicate and Party Bridge weekly. She’s even arranged for ongoing training at Lenbrook by a world-class Bridge instructor!
- Frances is an opera enthusiast, so much so that she spearheaded getting filmed opera performances played at least once every month in Lenbrook’s 12-seat movie theater. Because of the overwhelming interest, we have had repeat performances and have even moved many of these performances to the Brookhaven room where we can seat 80 people!
- Bob loves a good discussion and the banter that leads to deeper understanding. He is once again head of this year’s “Great Discussions” program, a program we’ve had in place at Lenbrook for over a decade. It offers a rigorous monthly curriculum of reading and discussion on matters of national and global interest.
These dedicated individuals are pursuing their passions and providing a great service to their friends and neighbors at Lenbrook.
Occupational Wellness is Purposeful Living
In the professional world of Enrichment, Dorothy, Francis and Bob are excelling in the area of “occupational wellness”: the act of getting and being involved; the act of contributing their talents to make a positive impact on the lives of others (and themselves) and the community in which they live.
“Occupational wellness” — or living with a purpose — is what we do at Lenbrook. Our residents are eager to have a say in the programs and events we host. They’re also ready and willing to take ownership in the process of making our programming relevant and fun for everyone. And we, the Lenbrook staff, constantly seek input and feedback so we can continuously improve.
From Casual to Connected to Committed
Having the feeling that you belong is a huge component of personal happiness. In my experience, that sense of belonging starts when you move from being a casual observer to becoming connected and ultimately to being committed to helping shape and sustain the strength of your community.
We’re big on belonging at Lenbrook. Everything here is purposeful. And we’re intent on providing the opportunities for our residents to do more than they would be able to do otherwise if they didn’t live in our Lenbrook community.
Lisa Kiely is the Director of Enrichment at Lenbrook, where she and her team continually refresh the programs and events provided on campus and out in the community. She is a graduate of Texas Womans University and is a Certified Eden at Home Associate, Certified Activities Director, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Step, Cycle, Parkinson’s and Barre Instructor.
