For the Dracos Family, Every Day Is Happy Mother’s Day!
For Atlanta-based Ellen Dracos Lemming, the 850+ mile distance from her mother Pat, who had been living in her home in the hills of northeastern Pennsylvania for over 50 years, was becoming more and more stressful.
“I couldn’t sleep at night,” said Ellen. “Even though she had lived there 52 years, I was so worried about my mom being alone in that big house, in a very isolated community. We had to make a change and bring the family closer together. And because she was so far away, the legwork was up to me.”
After extensive research and a number of visits to senior communities throughout the greater Atlanta area, Ellen was impressed by Lenbrook’s welcoming atmosphere and outstanding amenities. “When I walked into Lenbrook, I saw how beautiful it was, but what I noticed especially was the level of caring. I was very moved by the thoughtfulness of the staff and the interaction between the residents. There was a real sense of community. And the level of security was exceptional.”
Pat Dracos resisted the move South at first. Leaving longtime friends half-way across the country was hard. But after visiting Lenbrook a few times, she found that “the more I came, the more I liked it.” When the perfect apartment became available, Pat made the move to Lenbrook, and, like the rest of the family, today is very happy with her decision.
“I love staying busy, and at Lenbrook I play bridge three times a week as well as bingo,” says Pat. “There are many fascinating lectures, off-campus trips to local restaurants and cultural events, and I’ve made nice new friends. It was a good move. Ellen really did me a favor finding Lenbrook.”
Ellen treasures the close proximity to her mother. “I went from seeing my mom three to four times a year to seeing her twice a week, and that gives me such peace of mind. I’m so connected to her and I love seeing her so happy here. Now, for all of us, every day is Happy Mother’s Day!”
