Menders by Lenbrook Offers Excellent In-Home Care to Residents
Dr. Godfrey Oakley knows a thing or two about the importance of good healthcare. He is a retired pediatrician from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who now directs the Spina Bifida Prevention Center at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. There, he works to help prevent birth defects by promoting the intake of folic acid before and during pregnancy.
Dr. Oakley and his wife Mary Ann, a retired lawyer and published writer, moved to Lenbrook in 2016. They chose the community knowing that they could get whatever level of healthcare they needed whenever they might need it. Soon after they moved in, Mary Ann had her shoulder replaced and took advantage of services at the Medicare-certified Rehabilitation Center at Lenbrook.
When she later needed additional care, Dr. Oakley called on Menders by Lenbrook, a home care service that provides individualized, professional care and assistance on a long- or short-term basis. It provides in-home personal care and assistance to Lenbrook Residents including daily living support, companion services, and short-term relief for primary caregivers.
Menders by Lenbrook is located on the Lenbrook campus. The team works closely with Lenbrook Vice President of Health Services Nettie Thrash to further develop seamless wrap-around care programs for clients. Being onsite ensures seamless communication between Lenbrook healthcare associates and the Menders team.
Dr. Oakley contacted Menders by Lenbrook to get early morning help for Mary Ann and was impressed by how quickly and efficiently the team responded to her needs and the quality of the Menders caregiver.
“Menders by Lenbrook vets and trains the caregivers and arranges their visitation schedules,” he said. “We feel comfortable and confident with them and appreciate their professionalism and compassion. It’s so easy to have their help, and it makes a big difference in our lives.”
One of the caregivers that Menders by Lenbrook assigned to the Oakleys was Monique Cover, who soon became their principal caregiver.
“We are really blessed to have Monique working with us,” the Oakleys said. “She is attentive to what we need and makes us feel at ease. She is like part of our family.”
As Mary Ann needed more assistance, the Oakleys increased the hours of care per day and added weekend help. Menders by Lenbrook easily adjusted to their needs.
“Menders by Lenbrook is flexible and accommodating to our needs,” the Oakleys said. “We are grateful for the care they give us and recommend them to anyone who needs home care services. Because they are on-site and managed by Lenbrook, it makes getting care easy and much less frustrating than trying to find caregivers on your own.”
