Assisted Living Manager Valarie Ward-Bobbett Appreciates Supportive Culture at Lenbrook
“Clean, welcoming, and new” were Valarie Ward-Bobbett’s first impressions of Lenbrook when she arrived for her interview five years ago. Today, those words still describe her experience working at Lenbrook where she now serves as the Assisted Living Manager.
Lenbrook’s Assisted Living team aims to help residents be as independent and safe as possible as they go about their day. Everyone’s needs are different, and team members meet residents where they are. Valarie supervises nine certified medication aides and a nurse. The team is responsible for addressing patient needs, as well as safety and family concerns. Their responsibilities include serving meals, administering medicine, helping residents get to the gym or physical therapy sessions, and engaging in activities offered on the Assisted Living floor.
Valarie has worked in the healthcare industry since 1992. She received a Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Chattahoochee Technical College. She has also taken courses at Mississippi Valley State and Albany State University in preparation for beginning a Registered Nursing program.
Valarie remembers being amazed when she stepped through the doors of Lenbrook.
“I can’t say this enough – Lenbrook as a whole is wonderful,” Valarie said. “Everybody is nice here. Lenbrook has supported me as a supervisor and as the Assisted Living Manager. I feel confident in my role because of that support. I work with a great team of managers, and associates are always eager to go above and beyond. It’s a wonderful environment.”
During Valarie’s shifts, she and her team endeavor to have residents maintain the same routines they had when they lived in Independent Living. They help them go to the gym, participate in classes and activities at Lenbrook, and get any physical, occupational, or speech therapy services they need.
“We encourage people to be up, exercise, and engage in activities,” Valarie said. “We want them to live their best lives.”
Valarie describes Assisted Living as a mighty team, united by the common goal of exceeding residents’ expectations and needs.
“We love our residents, and families tell us they appreciate how kind we are with their loved ones. We hope to continue to build and grow from where we are now to an even better department. In Assisted Living, we always look for ways to improve,” she said.
